Urban green space is one of the most important land uses which enhance environmental quality. Many urban areas are characterized by high building density and limited space for landscaping. Urban authorities redesign the landscape for reviving and increasing cities' attraction. This research attempts to study the spatial pattern and change of green space in Babolsar town by using Arial photographs completed by field investigation. During the five past years the area experienced an intensive land use change due to high price of urban land for residential building. So it seems that the extent and pattern of green space has considerably changed. This paper aims to show the scale and impact of such trend in the area which could help town planner and policy makers.Key words: urban green space, Arial photographs, land use, Iran
